The cowboys are coming! The cowboys are coming!

We’ve got our Champions Challenge countdown clock set here at the Silver Spurs and can’t wait for tomorrow night!Hotels and restaurants along U.S. Highway 192 and throughout Osceola County will be filled with the cowboy hat-wearing set performing Saturday night, as well as rodeo enthusiasts from around the state and the U.S. who are coming out to watch. (Smile and you’re sure to get a tip of the hat!)We’re bringin’ in truckloads of dirt and livestock for this all-star event, presented by Justin Boots. The Silver Spurs Club is also providing volunteer manpower to help the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association run the October 3rd rodeo. The Wrangler Champions Challenge is gonna take place right here in our namesake arena at Osceola Heritage Park. Most of the competitors are coming straight off the 2015 Champions Challenge Finale in Omaha, NE that took place September 26th. There’s no break for most of these cowboys and cowgirls. There’s no rest for those in it to win it.The Champions Challenge here at the Spurs’ Arena will be the first one of the 2016 season. We’re always ahead of the game here in Osceola County! This contest is bound to be a good one as performers strive to come out of the box winning for next year’s standings.Just the other day we told you about “Sanchez” – one of the elite competition bulls we raise at our ranch in Kenansville, about 30 miles south of Kissimmee/St. Cloud. Now here’s a look at some cowboys we’ve got our eyes on, too. Our very own Caleb Sanderson, champion bull rider, has qualified to compete and we couldn’t be more proud. (We bragged on him earlier this week!)Meanwhile, here’s a quick feature on two cowboys coming to Kissimmee this weekend who you’ll wanna watch: Cade Swor, Tie-Down RoperSwor didn’t have the best September but his win in Omaha is sign of big things to come. He earned nearly $5,000, which will boost his spot in the Windham Weaponry High Performance PRCA World Standings. Swor, from Texas, entered the week 12th in the standings. Although it’s a somewhat comfortable spot, he still wanted to end the regular season on a high note. And he did! Like other ropers, Swor will be riding his own horse, and there will be hundreds on the grounds this weekend.Cody Teel,Bull RiderThis 2012 PRCA World Champion from Kountze, Texas dominated at the 2015 CBR (Championship Bull Riding) World Finals this summer in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Teel is known for his focus and resolve as a competitor – at the CBR World Finals, he didn't have a round winning score during the five-round finale, but he was consistent, and so he persevered! Many talented athletes are performing at the Silver Spurs Arena on October 3rd. After all, the Champions Challenge is reserved for the best of the best professional rodeo has to offer. We at the Spurs welcome you and yours over to our place this weekend.[Editor's note: An earlier version of this blog post featured two competitors who have since dropped out of the Oct. 3 Wrangler Champions Challenge.]
