In the sport of rodeo, there are seven traditional rodeo events split into two types of events: timed and roughstock events.
Each year, the Silver Spurs Board of Directors carefully chooses two men to receive the honor of Coca-Cola Cowboy and two women to receive the Women’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The Coca-Cola Cowboy award started in 1982 and the Women’s Lifetime Achievement Award began in 1992 to honor four Silver Spurs Riding Club members that have dedicated their time and efforts to keep the Silver Spurs Rodeo and Osceola County’s ranching history alive.
During the award ceremonies, dinner is served, stories are told and laughs are shared as the winners celebrate with their fellow Spurs members and family. The Coca-Cola Cowboys are given a coveted bright red jacket with a black cowboy hat and the Lifetime Achievement Award winners are given an engraved plaque as well as a commemorative clock.
The smell of freshly churned dirt mingles in the air. The sound of hooves pounds against the ground. The rodeo announcer's voice booms over the speakers, welcoming everyone to this celebration of cowboy heritage. The crowd responds with exhilarating cheers. This can only mean one thing - it's rodeo season!
And in Kissimmee, Florida, there is no rodeo more iconic than the Silver Spurs Rodeo, the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi. Our roots run deep in the heart of Osceola County, Florida, where our history stems from a humble gathering of ranchers in the early 1940s. For more than 80 years, we have been preserving and showcasing the thrilling sport of rodeo.
As a non-profit organization, our mission goes beyond providing exhilarating entertainment. For us, it's not just about the thrill of riding broncs or taming bulls. It's about preserving tradition and celebrating the courage and resilience that defines our heritage.
Every rider, every spectator and every volunteer contributes to creating an atmosphere filled with unwavering support and adrenaline-fueled excitement. But beyond all the dust kicked up by hooves and all the cheers echoing through the stands lies something even more profound—the deep sense of community in Osceola County and our ability to give back to it.

Most people know about the Silver Spurs Rodeo here in Kissimmee, Florida, but not everyone knows about the Silver Spurs Riding Club. Since 1941, the Silver Spurs Riding Club has held events and put on performances around the community, to raise money for local nonprofits. With a membership of over 300 members, many of these volunteers stem from pioneer ranching families that have build the communities we know and live in across Osceola County.
To recognize the iconic members of our organization and share their story as an individual and as a Silver Spurs Riding Club member, we created the Heritage Series. This video series will introduce you to some of our Coca-Cola Cowboys and Women's Lifetime Achievement Recipients, highlight their life living in Osceola County, and show you what the Silver Spurs Riding Club means to our members.
