So, Silver Spurs Club… What in the world is the Wrangler Champions Challenge?

[This blog was updated as of May 25th, 2016.]But don’t fret. There’s no off-season in the wide world of professional rodeo! And here at the Silver Spurs Club, we’re ahead of the game. Can we get a YEEHAW, y’all?!On October 3rd, Kissimmee hosted the first Champions Challenge of the 2016 season at our place, the Silver Spurs Arena at Osceola Heritage Park and will be back again on June 11th. It’s one of the PRCA’s newest and most exciting events. It’s among the 500-plus rodeos sanctioned by the PRCA and held throughout the US and Canada each year – all of ‘em leading up to the annual National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December.Presented by Wrangler and Justin Boots, the Wrangler Champions Challenge is sponsored locally by Experience Kissimmee, Wolf’s Landscape and Irrigation, Boggy Creek Airboats, and Lynch Oil. Little do people know, the Champions Challenge is actually a series of 11 rodeos reserved for the world’s best-ranked cowboys and cowgirls. During this one-night header you'll watch the seven standard PRCA events: tie-down roping, team roping (heelers and headers), steer roping, barrel racing (women only), bull riding, bronc riding, and saddle-bronc riding.Seven of the 10 contestants in each event are chosen automatically via the PRCA’s World Standings from the previous year. Three wild-card spots are given to the leaders of the Windham Weaponry High Performance World Standings and the Wrangler Million Dollar Tour Standings 30 days ahead of each Champions Challenge. We’re gonna be hosting (for the fourth year!) the best of the best under our roof for a night of downright awe-inspiring rodeo. Fun for families, couples, and groups of friends, rodeo is America’s original extreme sport and we here at the Spurs want to welcome you and yours to check it out.If you do, you could wind up on TV! Though they aren’t broadcast live, the Champions Challenge is one of the most televised rodeo events throughout the year. Check your local listings on the CBS Sports Network. These world-class cowboys and cowgirls will blow you away with their athleticism and their handling of some of the finest livestock the sport has to offer.Ready to experience your first rodeo? Save the date for Saturday, February 10th for our 7th Annual Monster Bulls where you can watch real cowboys go up against some of the “rankest” and baddest Silver Spurs bulls. Or, join us February 16th through the 18th for the 140th Silver Spurs Rodeo where you can watch seven of rodeo’s traditional events: bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, women’s barrel racing and team roping! Hope to see y’all then!
