Silver Spurs Club Honored with VISIT FLORIDA Flagler Award for “Tradition Rides On” Marketing Campaign

Kissimmee, FL – August 28, 2025 – The Silver Spurs Club is proud to announce it has been recognized with a Bronze Flagler Award in the Integrated Marketing Campaign category from VISIT FLORIDA for its Tradition Rides On marketing campaign. The award was presented at the Chairman’s Dinner during VISIT FLORIDA’s Annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism held at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate.

Each year, the Flagler Awards honor outstanding tourism marketing efforts that showcase the best of Florida. This year, nearly 300 entries were submitted across multiple categories, with the Integrated Marketing Campaign category recognizing efforts that unite multiple platforms, such as public relations, digital, print, out-of-home, and social media, into a cohesive and impactful effort.

The Silver Spurs Club’s Tradition Rides On campaign honored the 80th anniversary of the very first Silver Spurs Rodeo and the impact it has had on the local community, supporting charities in need. To achieve this, the Silver Spurs Club introduced a refreshed style guide that paid tribute to its heritage while creating a modern, recognizable visual identity across all platforms. The campaign incorporated historic photos and videos to connect audiences to the event’s legacy and layered oak textures throughout the designs, a nod to oak as the traditional material for the 80th anniversary.

“This award is a reflection of not just our organization’s history but also the dedication of the hardworking volunteers who give their time to organize this event each year,” said Sara Berlinsky, 2023 – 2024 Big Boss of the Silver Spurs Club, who was leading during this campaign’s launch. “For our campaign to be recognized amongst statewide campaigns shows how much history and heart can stand out. Tradition Rides On was a way to share the legacy of our rodeo and the families who built it, and we’re honored to see that story shine among Florida’s most prominent voices in tourism.”

Current Big Boss of the Silver Spurs Club, Katharine “Kaye” Whaley shared, “The Silver Spurs Club has always been about more than rodeo — it’s about family, tradition, and giving back to our community. Winning this Flagler Award inspires us to keep finding ways to tell our story, welcome new fans, and ensure our traditions continue to thrive for generations to come.”

The Silver Spurs Club, founded in 1941, hosted its first rodeo in 1944. It is made up of over 300 volunteers and is an organization dedicated to preserving the sport of rodeo while supporting charitable causes throughout Osceola County. Each year, the Silver Spurs Club hosts various rodeo events that raise funds for local nonprofits throughout the year.
