Here's proof that you should attend rodeos in Florida at least once
Whether it's your first time visiting Florida or you're native to the Sunshine State, there will always be something that surprises you. Kissimmee makes people think of vacations and characters, swamplands and easy access to beaches, but what about the legacy of the original folks that settled here? Back in the day when agriculture wasn't just the driving force of Florida's economy, it also served as a source of entertainment. Rodeos like the Silver Spurs Rodeo may have started as a way to get together with friends over shared values like horsemanship and giving back, but over the years, it's evolved into a fun, new thing to do for those who aren't that familiar with the cowboy lifestyle. (We're always shocked that some people don't even know that rodeo is a "thing" in Florida!) Still not convinced that this is a Central Florida event you don't want to miss? Read what our past attendees had to say about what they loved about attending rodeos in Florida...
"The best dollar-for-dollar entertainment in Central Florida! Great time had by [the] whole family. You don't need to know how to ride to have fun at the rodeo. Excitement and fun every minute!" - Eben, Facebook"The place is very clean and feels a very safe place to be entertained. It was clear that the animals were all beautifully looked after and happy. The little steers pranced off the arena stage looking very pleased with themselves. Obviously, this is a dangerous sport but I was only ever concerned for the men!" - Leanne, Facebook
"My son (2 years old) loved the entire show! One event, he actually sat through the entire thing from 7:30-10:30 p.m. His favorite part was the bull riding and the saddle bronc. We can't wait till the next rodeo! He wants to do the calf scramble so bad." - Coral, Facebook "I absolutely loved it. I hadn't been to a rodeo since I was a kid and this one did not disappoint. The rodeo clown with the mini Hershey was so funny. It was also done very timely. Very reasonably priced for tickets as well as concessions. Loved that there was retail also and purchased a cool new shirt to ride in. Can't wait to go again." Stacey, Facebook
"I attended with my daughter and mother for a girl's night out... We had a great time... It was my daughter's first rodeo. The facility was clean, employees and guests were very nice. We can't wait to come back! I highly recommend the Silver Spurs Rodeo to anyone." - Lynne, Facebook "This rodeo is member run & for a member-run rodeo, I couldn't believe my eyes at how amazing it was. Every night was packed but the arena is so large that you never feel cramped. The food was awesome! The volunteers & workers were so helpful & friendly & I can't begin to tell you how entertaining the rodeo itself was! You HAVE TO check it out! Well worth the hour & a half drive!" - Catriona, Facebook Like many other major sporting events, Florida rodeos are a great time for parents to spend time with their kids while learning something new. Between the chance to win $5 in the calf scramble and the opportunity to meet a real-life rodeo queen, there's no limit to the amount of fun your kids can have when they go to the Silver Spurs Rodeo. For those who regularly attend rodeos or spend much of their day working out on a ranch, throwing on some cowboy boots and a hat are just a part of their routine. But for those who aren't already connected to the rodeo world, we can understand the appeal to "dress up" and change up your outfit. Many people make it a family affair by getting matching boots and shirts, but for those not yet in that boat, a date night rodeo-style might be just the thing to kick up the romance (and some dirt) this year! Are you ready to rodeo? Join us Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1st for the 143rd Silver Spurs Rodeo where you can watch seven of rodeo’s traditional events: bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, women’s barrel racing, and team roping! Hope to see y’all then!
