Celebrating Bill Ramsey: 2026 Coca-Cola Cowboy

Rodeo has long been part of Bill Ramsey’s life. It’s a connection that runs deep in Osceola County’s ranching heritage — and one that has shaped his decades of service to the Silver Spurs Club.

Each year, the Silver Spurs Club honors two Coca-Cola Cowboys whose dedication has helped preserve the Club's traditions and values while keeping Osceola County’s ranching history alive. With deep family roots in those traditions and a lifelong commitment to the organization, Bill Ramsey is proud to carry that legacy forward as one of this year’s honorees.

Where His Silver Spurs Story Began

Bill got his first official start with the Silver Spurs Club as a rodeo volunteer pushing calves for events in 1968. While it certainly wasn’t the cleanest of jobs (often leaving him and his clothes a mess from the dirt), being a part of the rodeo team quickly became a great source of pride and joy, pulling him thoroughly into the rodeo life.

Bill also credits fellow former Coca-Cola Cowboy and former Big Boss, Ham Brown, as one of the biggest influences on his becoming an official member of the Silver Spurs Club. He, alongside many other veteran members of the organization, showed Bill what it really meant to be a part of the club and a part of rodeo’s way of life. Bill described them as genuinely good people looking to do good in the community, whom he couldn’t help but enjoy being around. And it was this that ultimately drew him to join the Silver Spurs Club.

Growing Up Silver Spurs

Of course, it wasn't just his early days as a volunteer that drew Bill to the rodeo life. It was also something he grew up around. Both of his parents were members of the Silver Spurs Club, and played very active roles. His father was even a Coca-Cola Cowboy himself and a former treasurer of the organization, while his mother was also nominated for the Women’s Lifetime Achievement award.

The legacy continues into the next two generations. Bill met his wife in the club, and together they brought their own son, Scott Ramsey. Just as Bill had been, Scott grew up around the Silver Spurs Rodeo and even became “Big Boss” of the Silver Spurs Club and now raises his own son in the organization as well, continuing the family tradition.

One hallmark of this tradition is the family’s participation in the Silver Spurs Club’ renowned Silver Spurs Quadrille. It started with his son, Scott, who began training in the Silver Spurs Quadrille at just eight years old. Later, Bill himself followed in his footsteps, and today his grandson, Reyce, carries on this practice by riding in the Junior Silver Spurs Quadrille.

For Bill’s family, being a part of the Silver Spurs Club isn’t just about being a part of an organization. It’s about cherishing the rodeo way of life, and instilling the values and commitment to community within the next generation, just as they were instilled in him by those who came before. Simply put, he states that, “It’s been a desire of mine to just keep it going.”

What Keeps Bill Ramsey Coming Back to the Rodeo

As you can probably guess, the Silver Spurs Quadrille is one of Bill’s favorite traditions of the club: but it’s not the only one. He named his favorite events as the bull riding and bronc riding, two rodeo classics that he’s not alone in his enthusiasm for. To him, one of the most awe-inspiring parts of the rodeo— a quintessential experience for rodeo newcomers— is the roar of the crowd, dispelling a wave of sheer excitement when it’s time for the bull riding event.

Overall, however, what truly keeps Bill coming back to the Silver Spurs Club time and time again is the people. When he first encountered the organization, he describes those older members as being a “different breed of people”, those focused on being genuinely good people and serving their community, which is a huge portion of what Silver Spurs is all about. It’s these people— and those today who continue to carry on these values— that make the Silver Spurs Club so special.

To Bill, therefore, it means a great deal to see the Silver Spurs Club still going, still doing good work. His hope is to see the next generation continue this work, keeping the tradition alive.

A Legacy Worth Honoring

Thank you, Bill, for your passion and dedication to the Silver Spurs Club and all it represents. Because of your years of service and the legacy you’ve helped build, we’re proud to recognize you as one of this year’s Coca-Cola Cowboys.

You can help celebrate Bill at the Silver Spurs Rodeo during the Coca-Cola Cowboys presentation. During the ceremony, the honorees take a ride around the arena in a truck, waving to the crowd and taking in the place that has meant so much to them over the years — the arena they’ve come to call home
