Celebrating Beverly Partin: A Lifetime of Dedication and Service to the Silver Spurs Riding Club

In 1964, Beverly “Bev” Partin embarked on a journey with the Silver Spurs Riding Club. Her induction into the Spurs membership marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to an organization that has become synonymous with community, tradition, and family.

Beverly's initial role in the old concession stands under the guidance of Bill Chapman and Katherine Bronson set the tone for her many contributions. Tasked with pulling cold drinks out of icy tubs and removing caps, she began her tenure with a simple yet vital responsibility. Her work ethic and commitment quickly became evident, laying the groundwork for her future roles within the organization.

As the Silver Spurs Riding Club evolved, so did Beverly's involvement. With the construction of the North stand, she transitioned to kitchen help under Aunt Connie Partin. Here, she was entrusted with the "secret sauce recipe." Her responsibilities expanded to include maintaining supplies of ketchup, mustard, relish, and onions, as well as working the front lines, preparing food, cashiering, and ensuring the warmers were always ready to serve the next hungry rodeo fan.

Beverly's journey continued in the South Stand, where she affectionately became known as the onion lady. Her dedication shone as she arrived early to chop fifty pounds of onions, ensuring the concession stands were well-prepared for the day's events. Her roles varied, from making popcorn to cooking and serving.

The Silver Spurs Rodeo was more than just an organization for Beverly; it was a family affair. Her children and grandchildren participated in the quadrille, a tradition she supported by sewing shirts and contributing to the family legacy in the rodeo. Her involvement extended to the leadership roles within her family, with her daughter Debra serving as the Little Boss, her son John as the Straw Boss, and her husband Hank Partin as Big Boss.

Beverly's contributions to the Silver Spurs Rodeo reflect a deep-seated belief in the value of community and service. Her joy in serving alongside her family and watching the Spurs grow into a community-minded organization speaks volumes about her character and dedication. The rodeo has benefited immeasurably from her tireless work, her commitment to tradition, and her nurturing a family legacy that continues to thrive within the organization.

In recognition of her decades of service, dedication, and love for the Silver Spurs Rodeo, Beverly Partin has been honored as the 2024 Women’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. This accolade is a testament to her unwavering commitment, spirit of service, and significant contributions to the rodeo and its community. Beverly's story is a beacon of dedication and love for the Silver Spurs, inspiring future generations to carry on the traditions and values she has helped uphold.
