The Silver Spurs Riding Club Honors Dedicated Volunteers: Danny and Lois Hall
The Silver Spurs Riding Club and our events thrive because of our dedicated volunteers who don’t see the organization as a job but as a labor of love. You can see our hardworking volunteers everywhere, from helping people to their seats to running concession stands. They take time out of their daily lives every event to make sure these traditions continue. Each year, the Silver Spurs Riding Club board honors its most dedicated volunteers with the title of either Coca-Cola Cowboy or Women’s Lifetime Achievement recipient. In this blog, we’d like to introduce you to two of this year’s honorees: Danny and Lois Hall.
Danny and Lois Hall were both born in Irvine, Kentucky and graduated as high school sweethearts from Irvine High School. Soon after graduating, they both moved to St. Cloud, Florida, and got married in 1968. In the fall of that year, along with Danny’s parents, they started H & H Sod Co. Inc. In 1973, they had a son Jeffery Hall, and he blessed them with three beautiful granddaughters. Along with his wife Clinette, Jeffery joined his parents in the business after his graduation. For the next 50 years, Lois ran the office, and Danny worked hard with the help from loyal employees.
Along with the sod business, they always had a love for real estate. The Hall’s bought and sold many properties in Osceola County while purchasing farms in Kentucky and Putnam County, Florida. They also had a successful cattle operation up until they retired in 2020. Lois has served as secretary to the Osceola Cattlewomen and was treasurer of the St. Cloud High School Band Boosters. Danny served as President of the Florida Sod Producers and was on the board of the Farm Bureau for several years.
Danny and Lois were asked to be Silver Spurs Riding Club members in the early 1990s. They love the club for what it represents and consider the people they have volunteered with as their best friends. Lois started working at the Silver Spurs Rodeo in the Connie Partin concession stand under the bleachers of the old arena while Danny cooked hamburgers for the membership. After years of volunteering here, Lois and Danny happily handed their jobs to their grandchildren and the younger generation. Lois and Danny currently volunteer in the Hospitality Room but make sure to tip your hat to them when you see them at the next Silver Spurs Rodeo event!
