Each year we honor a few select women for dedicating their time and efforts to keeping one of Osceola County's long-standing traditions alive. The Silver Spurs Riding Club gave three members the Women's Lifetime Achievement award.
Esther Dulgar, Nelda Evers and Ruth Davis received the women's lifetime achievement honors, given annually to the women of the club who have dedicated years to preserving the club's heritage.
Esther Dulgar has been involved with Silver Spurs since the 1950s. Esther Dulgar ran the rodeo office in the 1990s and has served as the chairwoman of the lifetime achievement awards.
Dick and Ruth Davis made volunteering with Silver Spurs a priority of their marriage. The couple, who have been married 59 years, most notably have headed the club's concession stand operations for 15 years.
Nelda Evers has been a Silver Spurs member since 1984, spending time in several areas of fundraising and helping with Miss Rodeo competitions.
"Without men and women like these, it would be impossible to be successful," said Wendi Jeannin, a spokeswoman for the club. "That's why it is important to let them know that their efforts are not unnoticed."
