Tickets on Sale September 1 for the 111th Silver Spurs Rodeo October 9-12, 2003

KISSIMMEE/ST. CLOUD -- What’s more American than baseball and apple pie? Why, the Silver Spurs Rodeo—the original American sport!  And tickets will be on sale beginning September 1, 2003 for the 111th edition of the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi.

Pulse-pounding excitement teams up with heart-stopping action for four days, October 9-12, 2003 when some of the best cowboys in the world compete for more than $50,000 in cash prizes and prestige. The weekend will also spotlight the toughest bulls and broncos in some of the most adrenaline-pumping action anywhere.  Thrilling the throngs of rodeo lovers will be some of the funniest rodeo clowns anywhere as well as top concerts.

For the “extreme sports” lovers, the Xtreme Bulls returns to Silver Spurs on Saturday, October 11, with 30 of the country’s top riders competing for a whopping $75,000 purse.

Celebrating 60 years of wholesome family fun and entertainment, the Silver Spurs Rodeo moves into its brand new home with the grand opening of the multi-million, state-of-the-future, climate-controlled, high-tech Silver Spurs Arena located at the all-new Osceola Heritage Park.The new multi-purpose Silver Spurs Arena takes spectator comfort to a new level, with 8,300 extra wide seats and twelve luxury suites, with bar and restaurant service.

The 120-acre Osceola Heritage Park, which includes the Osceola County Stadium, the Exhibition Building, Outdoor pavilion, KVLS Pavilion and University of Florida Extension Services has been developed as a showplace of facilities that honors and celebrates the Kissimmee/St. Cloud community and its agricultural and cattle ranching heritage.

This year’s festivities will feature such rodeo favorites as bull riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, and barrel racing, along with crowd pleasing cowboy clowns.  And rodeo fans will thrill to the breathtaking performances by the world famous Silver Spurs Quadrille team where eight couples intricately execute a square dance on horseback.

Tickets are $35, $25 or $20 for the Thursday through Saturday rodeos (all beginning at 7 pm); Sunday tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.

Founded by the Silver Spurs Riding Club in 1944 to promote good horsemanship and good fellowship in Osceola County, the Silver Spurs Rodeo today is one of the most successful rodeos in the country.
